I’ve noticed i’m starting to gain weight since I was diagnosed, i’m going to try to start working out, but I want to be able to eat what I need and not gain weight as well. Are there any ways to get around this? For the past four weeks I have been deailng with my new diagnosis, for breakfast and sometimes dinner, I eat a bagel with creme cheese(which probably is’nt good, and for lunch as a matter of fact. It was an easy thing to pack, that’s my excuse. For snacks i’ve been eating granola bars- one is vanilla almond, the other is a trail mix sort of thing. Spaghettio’s, granny smith apple cereal, A LOT of eggs since thay have no carbs and all I drink is Crystal Light. Help?

Here’s some information on waht to avoid, but also on how to cure diabetes.

Diabetes

All diabetics have a common fluke parasite, Eurytrema pancreaticum, the pancreatic fluke of cattle, in their own pancreas. It seems likely that we get it from cattle, repeatedly, by eating their meat or dairy products in a raw state. It is not hard to kill with a zapper but because of its infective stages in our food supply we can immediately be reinfected.

Eurytrema will not settle and multiply in our pancreas without the presence of wood alcohol (methanol). Methanol pollution pervades our food supply — it is found in processed food including bottled water, artificial sweetener, soda pop, baby formula and powdered drinks of all kinds including health food varieties. I presume wood alcohol is used to wash equipment used in manufacturing. If your child has diabetes, use nothing out of a can, package or bottle except regular milk, and no processed foods.

Go the get the "south beach diet" book by Dr. Agaston.
It is the new "fad" but it really IS good for you. I reccomend actually reading the whole book not just the part what you can and cannot eat. If you read the book it gives you a lot of info about why it works and why it is NOT the Adkins diet.
My husband and I went on it 4 months ago and he has lost 22 pounds and I lost 15. There are three phases but you can always adjust when you get to phase 3. I love how it makes you aware of what you are putting in your body. Don’t worrry about thereading every label part. After a month or two you won’t need to do it so much because you start to know what is bad, good or better to eat. But DO read the WHOLE book it really is a very "easy" read! It will help you succeed.

My husband is also Type 1. He is trying to lose the wt. he gained since being on an insulin pump. THe plus is that his A1c levels are very good now (due to the pump)–but he has gained wt. He asked his Dr. about how to lose the excess wt. and he said exercise more. But he already works out 3x a week, AND plays bball. Please remember that diabetes is hard– but don’t worry as much about your wt. as your overall health. Keeping your sugars monitered it the best. I think you are on the right track with the crystal light and eggs. Eat whole grains (fiber fills you up faster), and drink lots of water. Best to you!! I’m pulling for you!!
