Type two is caused by many things- being overweight, an unhealthy lifestyle, age, genetics, and a few other things.

Type two diabetes are usually adults. Children rarely get type two.

Type two diabetes can sometimes be controlled by diet and exercise, although many type two diabetics take oral medication.

Im going into my final year of school next Tuesday and the main reason I am dreading it is because I cant concentrate with my stupid diabetes causing me to be too tired or hungry or just making me feel sick!I have really tried with the help of my endo. to get it under control but I constantly feel sick….Does diabetes effect your studying ability or is it just me?

I don’t know what doctor specializes in diabetes. Are there diabetic specialist? If there are you should probably consult one of those and not an endo doctor. Your diabetes must not be under control if you still feel so bad. You may also need to examine your diet and change that as well. My sister went to a really good family practice doctor who helped her analyze her eating patterns and showed her where it was causing her problem. Since that time her overall physical aliments have improved and she no longer feels tired or nauseous. I should also mention that her doctor continues to see her every couple of weeks for reevaluation of her food journal. It seems the first step for you is finding a good doctor. Good luck!

Type II – generally, a lack of exercise and a poor diet make it difficult for insulin to enter cells, so the pancreas produces insulin at a normal or perhaps slower rate, and then medicine is helpful for letting the insulin interact with cells to let sugar in.

Yes it does. Especially if you are a poor exerciser, you will increase your risk.

Also genetics is a big part of it. If your past family has had it before, you have a higher risk of getting it. It can be prevented though by eating right, and exercising more.

Hi, well I’ve had a busy week. My brother seemed like he had the flu, and it just wouldn’t end and he was getting worse, so while I was at school they took him to the emergency room so now he’s in the hospital, and he’s going to stay there for a while.

My mom’s been freaking out over me, so I wanted to ask any doctors their opinion on if they think type 1 diabetes is caused by a virus, if it’s hereditary, or if it’s something else.

Your other responders gave you good answers. They know there is a genetic factor, but not in the traditional sense. I believe the chance of you developing it now is only around 5% since your brother has it. Then there’s an environmental factor that triggers it. They don’t know what that is.

The best thing you can do is give your Mom a hug, and tell her you found out that there is nothing she could have done to prevent it. Because that’s the truth. Hopefully someone has told her that, so she isn’t tearing herself up with guilt. I know exactly how it is … my daughter was diagnosed with type 1 a year ago, when she was 2. It’s going to be rough for all of you for a while, but it does get better.

Diabetes mellitus type 1, also called type 1 Diabetes is caused when the beta cells of the panceas are destroyed (it is an autoimmune disiese). The main thing Insulin does is control blood sugar by causing the fat cells to store excess sugars when there is too much and to release sugars when there isn’t enough.

Your question is what causes it so the short answer: your body killed the cell that makes insulin.

I also have T1JD, and yes it can…have your sugars been running to high?..or to low? Diabetes can play a difficult role in all sorts of areas of the body. I myself went through a denial stage between 14 & 16 years old. My periods were very wide spread out and sometimes would I would start one day and it would stop the next. But of course then I would have times that I would bleed so much I had to be rushed to the ER. Good luck and talk to your doctor about it..have a hemoglobin A1C done to find out how youve been running and go from there.
