All of the folks that I know who have diabetes (insulin dependent) are obese. They are not just a few pounds over, but rather at very unhealthy weights. Is this normal?

I am an Insulin dependent Diabetic. When I give my self injections, quite often the injection site would bleed out a portion of the formula. Does this mean I did not get my full dose? Do you know any tricks to keep it from doing this? If it does this should I take another shot?
